A Week in Croatia

June 4, 2018June 4, 2018 ~ My Copper Fox ~ Leave a comment

It’s a big year for my hubby and I, we are both leaving our 20’s behind and entering into the big 30. My thoughts around hitting this milestone birthday are for another post, another time; let’s just say I’m not thrilled at the prospect. Last year, as we discussed what was ahead, we decided that … Continue reading A Week in Croatia

39,000 air miles before Two {lessons from flying with babies & toddlers}

December 9, 2017December 9, 2017 ~ My Copper Fox ~ 5 Comments

It was almost by accident that hubby and I became accustomed to flying with a little one so early on. It certainly wasn’t in our plan of things to do when baby came along but by the time she was two weeks old we had booked our first flight for only three and a half … Continue reading 39,000 air miles before Two {lessons from flying with babies & toddlers}

A New England Road Trip {part one}

November 8, 2017November 13, 2017 ~ My Copper Fox ~ 1 Comment

Just over a week ago we arrived home from an incredible 10 days exploring New England. If I’m honest I thought I would find it so much easier to jot down a blog post about our adventure but I have been struggling to put into words just how wonderful an experience it was. I suppose … Continue reading A New England Road Trip {part one}

HELLO

Hi, my name is Catherine & I am so happy you stopped by. The pages of my blog will mostly be filled with my journey in motherhood and our ordinary extraordinary moments. There is me, my husband Mark, our beautiful daughter and a beagle, setting down roots in our self build home by the river in the Northern Irish countryside.

Monday's get a bad rap but I've always quite liked them. This one was particularly nice. My auntie called round with a beautiful bunch of tulips and we got to catch up over coffee. Then my sister called in with home made brownies (@foxandfins you better hurry home from work or there will be none for you). It's been a chilled out but productive day, this one even managed to squeeze in a quick nap while I was busy folding laundry. I'm hoping she is well on the mend as we have plans to get out and about tomorrow. For tonight though, there's a roast in the oven, candles flickering and a neat & tidy house...almost! I'll post a little Insta reality in my stories to show that not everything is picture perfect 🤪
We had made great plans for a fun family day today. We were going to walk the beach, stop for lunch, browse the shops and maybe even get our dinner somewhere nice. On the way to church this wee button was sick so we turned the car around and all our plans went out the window. • It's been a day of pottering around the house, napping & watching movies instead. I'm always amazed at how this kid handles being sick, she is SO chilled out about it and she always manages to find enough energy to pull together an outfit for the housework 🤣 I think she's just taking a reaction to her preschool vaccinations but right on queue I've started feeling queasy, it's purely psychological I'm sure. • So as sad as I am that our Sunday turned out a little different, it's been pretty blissful to just relax all day 🤷‍♀️
I'm cosied up on the sofa with this happy girl after a morning of housework & make believe. I noticed that I had never published my post on the Second Trimester so it's just gone live if you fancy a quick read with your afternoon cuppa. Link in Bio 👶
Hello half term // this pic was actually for an ad that I ended up missing the deadline for, oops. I've kind of lost my appetite lately but can't get enough fluids so I'm hoping you guys can hit me up with your favourite smoothie & juice combos, the healthier the better. What you got for me Insta? 🍍
Love is in the air // it's been such a simple but completely perfect Valentine's Day. I know it is a silly holiday but I just love the extra excuse to indulge your loved ones that little bit more. This one is on half term holidays now which has made this evening feel even more special. I hope you have all had a lovely day, happy Valentine's you wonderful lot 💕
I live with an old school romantic who completely indulges my love for celebrating Valentine's Day. I'm a marketers dream and it looks like Susanna may well be the same. She woke up this morning and straight away said "Happy Valentine's Mummy" while throwing her arms round my neck for the tightest squeeze. We've been to see the midwife and now it's almost time for playgroup. I'm hoping to steal hubby away from work for a lunch date but if all else fails, we are having a family night in and that sounds pretty perfect to me. • "There are three things that amaze me— no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman" ♡ proverbs 30: 18-19 ♡
My Funny Valentine // it's starting to get all "hearts & flowers-y" round here. Susanna and I have a coffee date this morning, Hubby and I have a date night later and I'll also be menu planning for a special night in with my two loves tomorrow. There's been a lot of engagement chat in my dm's since I posted our proposal story yesterday, I love hearing everyone's stories. Spill the beans, how did your proposal go? 😍
I've been very productive today which is pretty unusual for me lately. It felt like spring and that mixed with nesting made me want to blitz our very grubby mud room & utility room. In fact, I pretty much blitzed the whole downstairs. I hope I have as much motivation tomorrow to tackle the upstairs. • Susanna and I stopped off at the park on our way home from playgroup since the sun was shining. It was just so lovely to be outside when we would usually be hurrying home to get cosy. I'm excited for Spring and also a little apprehensive in a weird way. • Our lives are about to change and I'm not gonna lie, sometimes the thought of going back to newborn days makes me a bit nervous. We are in a really lovely rhythm right now; Susanna is easy peasy and I have some free time each week to tackle housework and admin...soon all that time will be taken up with a beautiful little human. I know we will adore every minute of it, but is it ok to say that I'm a little bit sad to leave this stage behind?! I hope this doesn't sound like I'm not completely counting my blessings, because trust me, I am! I know we are so so lucky to be on the cusp of becoming a family of four but I also want to be really honest and say I'm a wee bit scared 🙊
So I've just gone and stepped right out of my comfort zone haven't I?! I've hit publish on a Week In Outfits blog post which is a collaboration with the loveliest bunch of mamas. I realised two things during this project; firstly I have got about three outfits on rotation at the moment and secondly, I'm very excited to get back to non-maternity clothes. As I said last week, I doubt you will find much inspo on my post but the link is in my bio if you fancy a nosey at my end of pregnancy bump anyway 😋 Don't forget to check out each of the actual fashionistas that joined in on a week in outfits, I've tagged them all on my pic 👗
