The December Edit

Well here we are, right on the cusp of a brand new year, a fresh start, a whole new adventure, isn’t it exciting? But before we jump into all things 2018 let’s take a little look back at the final hurrah of 2017. December was the perfect end to a truly wonderful year for us, I am choosing to celebrate how great the year was because not every year is like that and I really believe when something has been good we should celebrate! If you follow me on instagram you will have seen my little round up of the past year and some of the highlights in my best nine. I am breathing in all that I have learnt this year, ready to journey into the next chapter. So, the twinkly lights and wonder of December is almost behind us but here are some little things I was loving this month;

Family – I have a big family, and I married into a big family and so together we have a pretty huge kinship. December was full of family moments. For the first time in a very long time my whole family was together for Christmas. My younger sister who is a student in Glasgow (she is also a pretty incredible blogger) and her boyfriend were home for the holidays, as was my beautiful niece. We got to soak up some precious time with them, although not enough, it’s never enough to be honest. My older sister and her son also flew in from London to join the festivities and my goodness has it just put the icing on top of the cake this year! They are staying for New Year and I am so delighted. We have a brand new little nephew on my hubby’s side. Beautiful little Caleb joined the family mid-December and is by far the sweetest Christmas present we have ever received, Susanna is besotted! We hosted a great big family brunch for my husband’s family and a separate one for mine, both times the table was filled to capacity, both my home and my heart were bursting. We had Christmas Day to ourselves and it was perfect, we soaked up every last drop of Christmas cheer.

The Treehouse Belfast – we have two super cool friends who are always on top of the latest trends and cool hangout spots and so when they suggested a little night out before Christmas in place of gifts we knew we could totally trust their recommendation. We headed to Belfast for a ‘roof top movie night’ at the beautiful Treehouse, which is just above AMPM on Arthur Street. There is such a cool vibe about this place from the moment you step in the door. We picked our seats and ordered some cocktails from the bar and just generally soaked up each other’s company while we waited for the movie to start.  Right on queue at 8pm the opening credits for Die Hard began to roll (can you believe I had never seen it before? Such a fan now) and within a few minutes we were being served a delicious plate of tapas. It is one of the best nights out I have had all year! What a fun, chilled out way to catch up with friends, I will definitely be back…even if our butts were rather numb by the end of the night.

Your Good Skin Comforting Gel Cleanser – I partnered with this new Boots UK brand a few weeks ago on their 28 Day Challenge and completely fell in love with their products. I have sensitive skin and have been stuck in the same old skincare routine for the best part of a decade and so when the opportunity arose I was excited to have an excuse to try something new. At the start of the month I received this cleanser and my face just loves it. It removes all my make up with minimal effort, feels luxurious and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth! The gel turns into a milk when you splash water to your face and comes off so nicely. Since using these products I have received countless complements on my “dewy skin”, and for the first time in my life I am confident to go make up free when out and about. This is not an ad, I just adore this range.

I am stopping short of my usual four favourites this month because all the fun and festivities meant that we didn’t watch or read much at all in December. What have you been loving this month? I also just wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all your love and support over the past few months, starting a blog was a very scary thing for me but you have been so incredibly encouraging and I am really enjoying sharing more with you. Happy New Year from my little family to yours, see you in 2018.
